When you design your new territory structure, understand that child territories automatically inherit the assignment criteria of their parent territories unless you explicitly override them. This helps you avoid duplicating rule logic and ensures consistency.

Salesforce allows only a single active territory model. You’ll need to build and test your new structure in a draft (inactive) model, then activate it—replacing the current active model—when you’re ready to go live for the new fiscal year.
