Lightning Experience's split views let users view records in a split list, with a list view on the left and a record detail pane on the right. Users can switch between views seamlessly. Note that split views are exclusive to standard objects like accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities, and cases, and not available for custom objects like shipments.
