Explanation
Temperature Sensitive Storage Efficiency (TSSE) is a method of compressing data based on data
"temperature", or how often the data is used. "Cold" data, or data that is not used often, is recompressed with a higher compression ratio for increased storage efficiency. TSSE is enabled automatically on newly created thinly provisioned AFF volumes, not thick provisioned volumes. TSSE operations on AFF arrays are automatically throttled depending on whether data is hot or cold, to balance performance and efficiency. TSSE is not supported on Cloud Volumes ONTAP or ONTAP Select, as these platforms have different storage characteristics and requirements.
