Learned cognitive distortions are faulty or biased ways of thinking, often acquired through socialization, that contribute to prejudicial attitudes and behaviors. Along with psychological defense mechanisms and authoritarian personality traits, these learned ways of processing information play a significant role in the development and maintenance of prejudice.
